my ds was diagnosed with ADHD in Dec since then he has been on a restricted diet cuttung out various foods. his symptoms now seem less and is easier to control. my DP does not believe in the change of diet however just thinks he is growing out of it! does a change of diet help your dc's or am i just imagining it????

hi, my ds is now 6, but when he was 3 he used to have tantrums that would last for hours.i had to sit holding him down as he was so violent and out of control. i did a 2 month food diary and the trigger ended up being honey. especially in the morning, when his blood sugar was low and this used to make him hyper. bizarre as i assumed it would be some e-numbers. my dh was the same until the health visitor and i showed him the diary. i definitely believe that diet influence kids behaviours.

at last im not the only one then!!! my ds has to cut out all cows dairy, cane sugar, citrus fruits, berries, pork and all additives as well as anything that is high in natural sugars. he is very understanding and i am sure he feels better in his self,

if i ever give him something (unknowingly) that has got an ingredient he shouldn't have he can usually tell.

maybe i'm not as mad as i was begining to think.

Removing aspartame has made an unbelievable difference to my DS who has autistic symptoms. Within a day, eye contact went from 10% to around 80% normal, he's sharing attention, communicating better, interested in his baby brother etc etc. I am absolutely amazed and wish I'd twigged earlier. Apparently aspartame is banned in the US (don't know if this is just in drinks targeted for children) for this reason, it's proven to have massive effects on some children.
