He did the sprint . They let him start half way down the course and got me to stand at the finish line, madly waving. Then his helper just let him go! He came beetling towards me and for a moment I thought, my goodness, he's actually going to win (OK from halfway) but then the kids watching started cheering and he slowed right down, looking a bit bewildered, and all the others pounded past him. Deputy Head leapt from the sidelines and ran with him the rest of the way. All the other kids in the race came crowding round - one little boy even joined in mine and Ds2's hug and gave me a kiss. It was lovely - not a dry eye in the house .
