I had to attend assembly today as dd1 received an award/certificate for doing good work tracing during fine motor skills time. ( this is at her mainstream school.)
She was a laugh - she did not want to sit on her special seat - she wanted to sit next to me. She then stood very straight and tall and 'sang' the national anthem - she can sing some words - mainly the end of the line. Dd3 kept clapping in the wrong places and trying to sing la la la ( well that is the best one can do at 13 months old!)
Then when her name was called - she got up and walked about halfway down the row of her class - turned to the audience and said her name again - almost as if to check that is what was actually said Her class teacher was there and said - yes.
Dd1 then went and shock hands with the deputy principal and stood nicely waiting for all the other children to get their awards and then came back to sit down.
Very funny - dd3 had fallen asleep and when I went to move the pram she stirred - gave a big clap and went back to sleep
Well we had been practising a lot last night - with dd2,3 and me being the audience. Dd1 practised nice walking, shaking hands, taking her certificate and then standing as still as she could.
Very proud mother!!! Even dd2 clapped really loudly.
