Had a lovely time with dd today!

Dd is so calm at the moment and when she is like that she is so much easier to deal with. We had the dreaded hairdressers but to be fair she has been very good the last few times we have been. Anyway he cut her hair for about 40 minutes (must say dd had her leapster and was very engrossed in that!!!!). He then got out his pink ghd's and did dd's hair in little ringlets and then finished the whole lot off with sparkly hairsray. Even if I do say so myself she looked so cute and gorgeous that I seriously considered eating her . On the way back to the car we walked past the library and I haven't taken her before. As some of you probably know dd loves books and reads all the time. Feeling brave from the hairdressers I asked dd if she wanted to go in and she did. She was a bit noisy but nothing out of the norm and we choose some books and she waited lovely whilst we checked them out. We also managed our 5th shopping trip to Tesco's yesterday and to some people it is things they do day to day and don't bat an eyelid but with dd up until recently all of these things have been a nightmare. Just feel as though she is really coming on and I am so glad that we are more and more able to do normal day to day things !
Have the dentist tomorrow, now that is a different matter all together as she hates it so fingers crossed for me please

BH, how lovely. I remember you mentioning the hairdresser at the last meet up! Sounds like he surpassed himself today. Good luck with the dentist.....
Aloha, girls' clothes are just soooo much more fun!

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages. I just think it's a shame that I am going to have to brush the ringlets out tomorrow as need to put dd's hair up. I cannot believe that they only charge £5 as dd has so much hair and they are a good hairdressers!
Congratulations Aloha, I didn't even know you was pregnant! Welcome to the world of pink! I must do at least 1 load a week dedicated to pink/purple/lilac as dd is so girly. Dd even refuses to wear trousers as "they are for boys"

I just feel that the more I can reason with dd and the more she understands then the better her behaviour is becoming. Obviously we still have "days" but at the moment everything is calm in the Blossom household (for now at least )

BH I have to do a lilac wash too! Although no dresses or skirts as dd does now allow them

Congrats Aloha!

Awww that's so lovely Can't you put dds hair up whilst in ringlets?

Did you take a pic of her to remember the day by, not that you'll need it I suppose as it sounds extra special.

Juniper I took a couple on my phone. I couldn't believe it but the hairdresser said that ghd's are made to either straighten or curl hair. It looked really easy too!

What a lovely hairdresser - can just imagine the sparkly ringlets. Anyone fancy swapping their pink and lilac g1rls for 2 khaki clad boys (one of which comes complete with a shroud of mud!)

Merlot I've already got one ds aged 7 going on stroppy 17 so I'll pass on that one
Why do they change so much from the age of 6-7???
Mind you dd is a real little tom boy and likes to be in the thick of it all with the boys. She loves the girly dresses but enjoys the rough and tumble. How many times have I said she is a complex little thing!!!!

LOL Blossom at your 7 year old going on 17 . Made me feel much better about my `think he knows everything' 7 year old. Ds1 has just started at Junior School and he seems to have grown up (and got very c0cky) in a blink of an eye. Was worrying that he was being affected by my anxiety over ds2, but think its just his age!

It sounds like a really lovely day, BH. Well done to little dd. We consider it a minor miracle to get ds1 to tolerate having his hair cut for 5 minutes so well done to Mini-Blossom for sitting still for a whole 40 minutes.

Good luck for tomorrow!

Merlot I honestly think they chnage from about the age of 7 don't they. I have just had such a grumpy boy today. The sad thing now is that he won't give me cuddle really anymore. A quick hug and he pulls away
It seems as though you are in the same situation as me as we do not have a firm diagnosis for dd yet. It's all still a bit hazy!!!

Batters - thank you for your kind message . I do think the leapster helped though. I think it is a must buy for any parents of 5 yr olds
I just pray the dentist goes well but will have to wait and see how dd is!

Bloss....I bet she looked even more like a Little Princess with her glittery curls.
Good luck at the dentists.....not nice but has to be done!!!
Have you seen the Carmen pink hair curlers in the Argos book....they are fab and put lovely riglets in hair in seconds....if things go good at the dentists tomorrow...couldn't you treat dd to a pair...then you can curl her hair for her when ever she wants!!!

Blossomhill · 05/01/2005 21:27

That's a really good idea Jaysmum, I think I'll try that and then I can borrow them I really would like my hair like that as it looked lovely, almost Sienna Miller!!! She keeps looking at herself in the mirror from different angles and when dh came in she put a tea-towel over her head and then said surprise and pulled it off to reveal the new hair-do. You had to be there but that's what dd is like the whole time. She is so dramatic and over the top but that's what we all love about her!
