SN children

On behalf of Sabaidii, has anyone emigrated to England with your sn children?

how did you do it? How did you start? If you have older sn children, what jobs are they doing (autism) or what are th e possibilities for them? For younger children what options are there.

Please keep in mind that none of her children have ever gone to school. Things are very different in Laos. She hasn't had any access to health care or any other kind of help.

Have any of you traveled (14 hour plane ride) with more than one autistic child. Any advice? What sort of options are available to new immigrants? She has no money. In Laos, She gets $25 per month (as a salary).

Please try and avoid discouragement. If she were in England, she'd have better luck and more help.

I'm not from England, so I have no idea how to help her. Please give some constructive suggestions.

WE moved to the UK from New Zealand but it was a bit different because we are from the UK originally. We also moved when our first baby (who has cerebral palsy) was 6 months old. We therefore had very few issues with it all. However I would say that she needs to be careful about accessing health care, make sure she is legally entitled to it for free otherwise she will have to pay. I think just making sure she has a visa but not sure - She may have to get residency instead of just a visa - I have no idea. If I recall you cannot get some of the benefits like DLA until you have been here for 6 months. Other than that she will have to access all services from scratch so there will be quite a wait. I found this very frustrating.
I don't know anything about schools as we are not there yet! hope this is of some help.
