SN children

I know this sounds mad, but DS2 has just asked for "gazins" and actually eaten...

Fantastic! There are so many dried fruits now as well.Sainburys do a pack of berry fruits which are delicious and not TOO unraisin looking!

Last week DS2 ate cereal for the first time since going g/f - Doves chocolate stars (tons of sugar- eek)but I mixed them with millet/quinoa flakes today and he ate the lot! He's eaten g/f toast + apricot jam for breakfast for a year without variation, so v pleased to have an alternative. Am going to try adding rice milk tomorrow.

brilliant news! It's so exciting when our children decide to do something for themselves.

sphil - A word of warning about Dove's choc stars - I had been giving them to dd1 and she was hoovering them up (she is GF/CF) - a little too readily for my suspicious mind. I checked the packet and, sure enough, there is rice malt in them, which I looked up (in Marilyn Le Breton's book) and its NOT GF (don't know why, but I'm not risking it). I suppose it depends on how sensitive your ds is, but I've stopped them with dd1 and seen the usual withdrawal symptoms. Sorry for the warning, given your breakthrough, but thought I'd mention it...

I am very envious-my DS will not touch them. Or any other fruit, fresh or dried, bar the occasional banana!

that's great news. DS will only eat yoghurt coated raisins, otherwise no dried fruit. Chocolate coated raisins just get the chocolate licked off and the raisin spat out yeuuuuch
