My boy has a severe language disorder.

I have noticed small amounts of progress after putting him on various supplements, including DHA Fish Oils.

I want to design a meal plan for him so that every meal I provide is going to help his gut and brain.

I would be so grateful for any suggestions or any websites or books or recipes. I don't know where to start.

The book often recommended for this is Gut and psychology syndrome which details the GAPS diet.

I have not used this myself and I have no idea if there have been any double blind studies to support it, the evidence seems to be largely anecdotal. There are posters who say diet has made a big difference to their children.

Thanks a million for posting - do you know where there are threads re diet benefitting SN children?

If you use the search function you should be able to find some relevant threads on this board. Usually these are instances where diets are low sugar and/or gluten free.

Many people give their dc supplements as diets can be so poor with SN (particularly autistic) children.

We did gaps! Using that book. Changed my sons life. Was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I found the diet socially isolating as they don’t allow a lot of food groups however the change in 3 days was worth the sacrifices.

The diet is heavy on probiotics and making everything from fresh. Give it a go .. it’s defiantly worth the try x
