Microarray testing

Currently awaiting the test results of DS microarray.

I just wondered if anyone had some experience of them?

I’ve read that if they detect an abnormality they’ll test me and DP. If they find the same abnormality and we’re fine then they will say that is not the cause of DS problem.

Is this true? I only ask because whilst my DP is OK, I do feel he struggles a bit with everyday life and in social situations. He was also behind as a child although as my lovely mother in law said they thought he was just a bit thick. Hmm so will they take in to account how DP was when he was a child or?

TIA. Hope that made sense. Blush

DS2 has had a microarray test and my husband and I were tested too. DS2 has a rare chromosome disorder which sheds light on his difficulties. My husband and I do not have the genetic deletion which means it is ‘de novo’ or a mutation in DS2.

In our case, it doesn’t change or solve anything but I like having a clear reason for why DS2 has difficulties. It is also good to know that our other children don’t have the deletion and we wouldn’t have known that without testing.

Me and my husband had it a few years back. It identified we are both carriers for a genetic condition that one of our kids have.

Just to add - we were all tested at the same time.
