First of a 5-part series, starting today - 16.10.18.
1/5 - One Day in the Life of Rosie Yates: It's a typical Saturday for 9-year old Rosie, who has a severe learning disability.

I'll be watching - if possible! Anyone joining me?

I really enjoyed watching this! Wonderfully acted, witty but incredibly heart felt. A very accurate representation of what everyday life is like for us.

I also really enjoyed watching it and thought it was really well done. So much rang true and made me realise that we haven't had a door slamming phase in a while!

I thought it was pretty darn good - brave to tackle this, and that's long overdue. Mixed emotions here - some quiet tears, some belly laughter, some discomfort (at a couple of the 'jokes', which I felt crossed a line), lots of recognition. Also, a difficult part for a child actor to get right - it wasn't perfect, but she did really well I thought. I will definitely be watching next week. Interested to hear any other responses.

We've already got 'NOT THE TALONS!', except here it's just 'NOT THE NAILS!' - so that's one thing we identified with from the first episode and doesn't need learning, thank you very much.

Morning all

Just a reminder that the second episode of There She Goes is on BBC4 tonight at 10pm - 10.30pm. The first episode is available on BBC iPlayer, and I'd recommend you try to catch up on that before watching tonight and the rest of the series.

Tonight, in Bubble Wrap, it's Bath Night with Rosie, and Mum Emily decides she needs a strategy...

Sorry, I posted on the Telly Addicts thread instead of here. As you said, perhaps it's good to have two threads - one for those for whom the series is 'interesting fiction' and one for those for whom it's a documentary of our everyday life

Oh dear! Our big thing was a king sized bed. Daily little things are currently anything paper and cardboard, and clothing - mainly hems, but also expanding any tiny holes or loose threads. Who needs furniture and clothes anyway, eh?!

You make a really good point about interesting fiction for some, versus real life for others including us.

If things here allow, I'll pop onto this thread after tonight's programme has finished in case anyone is around wanting a chat.

I try not to drink in the week, but I've got a G&T lined up for 10pm!

Very good episode my son loves baths and water he would spend all day in the bath if i let him he would also pour all the shampoo wtc in and freauwntly does, i did they had a surprisinglt tidy house though!

Yes, very good episode and the house was remarkably visitor-ready! Not bubbles so much here, but definitely the long baths and serious splashing - how many times has the bathroom floor been like a pond, how many times have I been soaked through just like the mum!

Indeed and if i forget to turn the shower off at the over head switch thing well you can imagine we have had more floods than i care to remember.

I was also thinking the house was super tidy!

The dryer bit makes me think of all the times I think I've found something really exciting and inventive for ds to do, then instantly regret it as I know I'm never going to be able to get him away from it!

I have also definitely also been 'that parent' in the park, although my ds would be minus shoes and a coat.

Its the Hoover with us he must like the noise and often hands me the plug so i can turn it on for him .

Yes - it's always having to think ahead and plan, isn't it? Like clearing everything in reach away, turning off sockets and so on. Mum trying to work out strategies, feeling triumphant when successful, only for Rosie to outwit her - in a continuous cycle!

Noisy things like the hoover are hated here, but we've made some progress with the hairdryer in the room, just not on his hair, oh no.

The tumble dryer made me think of the calamity of it all here. Not necessarily with a dryer, but it's not just the door being opened, it's the drawer and water being tipped out, the clothes out and all possibly trodden and slipped on. And it happening over and over and over again. We call WB an octopus because he seems to be able to grab more, reach more, and cause more chaos than someone should be able to who only has 2 hands!

The.young actress that plays Rosie is excellent she really captures what it is like however i did read on. A UNIQUE thread(UNIQIE. Is the charity that helps families affected by rare chromosome disorders in case anyone doesnt know) that they did audition some children with learning disabilities the parents felt they could take direction, but in the end went with a Neuro typical child .

Yes, that parent too, liv, coat ok, but possibly minus shoes. So funny when the neighbour corrected Dad's use of an outdated term for learning disablity - a classic moment.

The teeth brushing every bloody day and ds2 had to go under general anaesthetic if he needs anything. Done , i liked the dark humour the parents had thats how me and dh cope and ds2 is so funny as well as being tremendously hard work .
