Which fiddle toy would be best

My 9 year old has a dx of ASD, and he is very anxious. He has started to pick at his finger ails when he is particularly anxious. He has picked off a lot of the nail on some fingers to the extent that they are very sore and swollen.

He does not seem bothered at all, but they look like they must hurt a lot. His Dad suggested we try him with a fiddle toy to see if we can redirect his hands to something else.

I have seen lots of fiddle toys online, but I wondered if I needed to find one that allows him to mimic the picking that he does. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? Which type of toy might be best?

Thank you

I'd choose a few, if you get them on Amazon rather than an SN store they're loads cheaper.

My son has a fidget dodecahedron from Amazon (like a fidget cube but with more sides) and I cannot recommend it enough.

Thank you very much. I will try the dodecahedron. I will also just let him choose a couple to try out.

Thank you

Blu tack?

I bought a dodecahedron fidget toy. So far DS1 seems to really like it. We are yet to see if it reduces the picking enough to let his fingers heal.

I bought some coconut oil, but he hates the feel of it on his hands so I am very gently putting some on while he sleeps.

We tried blu tack but he kept losing it.

Thank you for all of your ideas and suggestions. I love not feeling so alone in trying to help our boy.
