Hi, we have a tribunal coming up this week to try to get DD's EHCP to reflect her needs. I have read all I can find about tribunals but I'm after more specific advice on how to cope and come across well, while putting our case across the best I can. I am determined but apprehensive. Many thanks

Perhaps easy to say, but try to be yourself and passionate about your child.

I was quite nervy but very determined and that seemed to go down well with the judge. I also deliberately overstepped the mark a few times because I knew I wasn't expected to be courtroom savvy and it gave a flavour of the crap I had had to put up with from LA.
Good luck!!!

I used facts and put the ball back into the school/la/judge court.

So things like “yes, I see salt is a need and that dd will have access to salt. What does ‘access’ mean? How often will this be, who will deliver it and what is the outcome expected from this?”

It’s about the specifics as things like a’access’ can mean ‘on their books’ to their being an on-site salt who delivers targeted support daily. What they need to do is determine what level dd needs.

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me last week - we had a favourable outcome at our tribunal - very happy. So glad we didn't give up - hope this helps others to keep going.

Yay fantastic news OP. Well done.

When will the LAs start working with families instead of forcing them down the Tribunal route? You would think some of them had never even heard of the CAFA. angry
