I have contacted my local Sendiass office on a number of occasions to ask advice about my son's specialist provision. I thought the service was confidential and independent. However I now understand that they are a parental advice service connected to my local council. So, my question is - Does Sendiass feed information back to the local council - generally or specifically about local provision?

Yes. Probably.

SENSIAS can be helpful in many ways, because they understand the inner working of the LA and can get you names and phone numbers and processes info quickly.

But they are not independent, and they are unreliable for their confidentiality.

Iv never had problems with info being divulged. If any hinges my office is adversarial to education authority and the lady dealing with my sons statement at education authority certainly didn't like their involvement. They also found a solicitor for me to move forward as part of a class action against the education authority.

That is interesting and useful - allthewaves - thank you. I have had a good experience of Sendiass but have read mixed reviews elsewhere. I suspect it can differ between local authorities.
