Advice on managing child's back brace

Hello, my daughter got fitted with a back brace this week for scoliosis, and I am hoping to find someone who has been through this to advise me on how to handle it! She is 7. My main concerns at the moment are what to dress her in, how she's going to manage going to the loo, talking to school. I am not even sure I'm putting it on right! If anyone has any words of wisdom or encouragement I'd love to hear them. Thanks xx

Hello, I have (or had, as I like to say) scoliosis. I was too severe when diagnosed to have a brace but I did have the corrective surgery. There are some Facebook groups that might be useful, e.g. Parents of Scoliosis Children UK.

Good luck with the brace, I hope it holds off progression. Nobody would ever guess I have 2 huge metal rods in my spine, I have lived a full and active life, worked as a nurse, done cross country riding, had a baby etc. It is tough at the diagnosis and treatment stage. I wish you all the best and hope she has as good a result from her treatment as I have had.
