Any recent rec for somewhere to buy a weighted blanket?

Sorry, I expect it's been covered before but the only threads I could find were several years old.

DS longs for a weighted blanket. I understand there are different types and that it's got to be appropriate to his body weight. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good source?

I've set some money aside for it as a Significant Purchase, so it's OK if it's not the cheapest - would really like it to be of good quality.

Thanks

The only one I've seen in real life is the Sensory Direct one and it is incredibly well made but very expensive. Please do read about safety precautions, eg weight should not exceed 10% of user's weight and the blanket should not be used all night.

Could I ask why ots are no
Longer recommending weighted blankets? I was going to buy one but the ot said they do not endorse them any more?

I suspect it's because OTs are trying to only recommend evidence based practice, and there's probably no evidence for weighted blankets!

It's odd as its on the checklist questionnaire for the sensory assessment I had - said does child use a weighted blanket? I then asked about one and they said they don't recommend.
My two have such trouble with sleep I use melatonin but think dd will be reported as having problems with priception and I wonder if this is why they can't sleep!

I made my daughter one - was fairly straightforward (although I already owned a sewing machine, which obviously makes a difference). I had no idea they were no longer recommended. More research for me to do, I guess!

We have one we are throwing away. Not sure if it's postable as it's weighty!

Lucy's weighted blankets on Facebook- we had one from there for ds and it's been wonderful. She will personalise them with any fabric of your choice.
