dd is 2.5 suspexted autism but the childmonder is adament that because there was domestic violence in the house until just after she turned two that its the effect of that. she saw it perhaps once or twice a week but it wasnt screaming and blood and stuff, it was slaps and pinches she witnessed

would the trauma from that present the same way?

When you've got a SEN child people like to blame you and make you feel guilty. I don't really understand why (except when it excuses their own failings with the child) but they do.

Get prepared for her to be a line of people who will sometimes put their penny's worth in. She probably isn't meaning to be unhelpful - but she is. There may be effects on your child but that's the same for all of us - upbringing is constantly called into question but it's not a proven cause of autism at all. We all try our best and if you have got out of domestic abuse the last thing you need right now is to feel guilty because of the past. You have now and you have the future - and you have moved you and your kids out of this situation.

Now you also have the added work of helping your child - so you will need all the confidence and energy you can muster and just keep going. If you are on your own - then surround yourself with people who can really support you well - not just bring you down. Good luck.
