Hi, my son is 5 (6 very soon) and has ASD. We have been lucky that he has never been particularly aggressive. Occasionally, he will push or hit his younger sister out the way but isn't that normal sibling behaviour?
Anyway, yesterday at school pick up. His ta come out to speak to me. She told me they have had sudden issues with biting over the last few days. She told me not to worry as she is dealing with it and hopefully he will learn not to before it becomes a habit.
But inside, I feel dreadful. Why is he suddenly doing this? Has anyone had this problem?
I don't feel like I can address the problem at home as he has never bitten us or his sister. His speech and understanding is delayed. If I tried to talk to home about the 'biting' at school, I think he would get confused. I also believe he is more likely to do it at home. As I find the more you mention something it tell him off, the more likely he is to do it again!
I'm really confused. Of course the Ta never told me what children he bit. But my son did keep saying: 'you mustn't bite 'child's name' (My sons speech is often expressed as someone is speaking to him if that makes sense).
