Anat Baniel is coming to the UK to do a seminar on Special Needs Kids. It's a 2 day seminar for adults (no children). I really liked her book Kids Without Limits and am tempted by this workshop although it is £££. Thought I would post here in case anyone else was interested.

No cures on offer polter. It's more about learning how human brains learn and understanding how to apply that. It's possible to get plenty low cost info from her book and free youtube videos. I ploughed through hours of free seminars last year and then did some successful DIY stuff with DS, which is why I am considering going to the London session to find out more.

Thanks for sharing tartan. I'm interested in the book - one of the reviewers on amazon said it helped to ground chikdren when approaching a task, can I ask what the approach is for that? Just trying to get my head round what it is exactly before I buy the book.

I had a quick look at the review and I'm not sure I know what the person meant! I wonder if she was talking about getting the child's attention so that they can learn?

It certainly is not book with "answers" and a "method". It's more a an "approach" which can be applied universally to any human learning. I think that is why I found it so difficult to understand to begin with. What helped me was reading Norman Doidge's first book and this TED talk - Michael Merzenich seems to have good things to say about ABM as a practical application of brain plasticity. In his words I suppose ABM would be about altering a person's "individual evolution" (if that doesn't sound too pretentious!

We had 6 months of weekly and twice weekly sessions with a therapist and found them useful but not a miracle cure. I think you need to start very young for the best results.
