DD2 has asked her teacher of she can move seats because she can't see the board well. The teacher said she'd talk to her job-share, but today DD2 didn't have an answer and was too shy to ask again. So I said I'd ask for her.
Me: "DD2 says she finds it hard to see the board and has asked to move but thinks it's rude to ask again."
Teacher: "Oh dear, sorry DD2. I just forgot. Show me what the problem is. You sit here right now...."
Then she motions to the nearest table to the board .
Teacher: "...so do you want to move up a place?"
Me: "I'm confused. DD2 I thought you were far away from the board, but you're on the closest table to the board.....where do you think you should be moved to?"
DD2: "Well I thought Miss X could just move this end table down that way quite a way so that I'm much closer to the board."
DD2 was suggesting classroom rearrangement.
Her teacher was very gracious and said that she didn't think she could achieve that, but we'd try the seat a couple of spaces further along and see whether it helps after a day or two.
Next time I'm going to ask more careful questions before I see the teacher .
