I've started this thread 100 times and then got rid of it but today is the day. I am feeling incredibly nervous ds who is 9 is to me obviously in need of help we are thinking aspergers spd and adhd but what if they say there's nothing wrong?
We have fought for this so long we knew right off the bat him being number 3 that there were things not quite right. It has been 9 years of people insinuating that we were making it up or we weren't doing the right things parenting wise with him.
I on one hand desperately want to know whats wrong but then if it is just all in my head and he is a typical child then that's wonderful.
We are having the meeting at school the school are in at 9.30 and we go in later at 10.45 so they are in for an hour and 15 so does that mean that something is wrong if they need so long to discuss it.
I am aware i am rambling but i don't know what to think and am so nervous right now

Who is the school meeting with? My two children have been diagnosed and we had a 4 hour assessment by a speech therapist and paediatrician and beforehand she was seen in her school by speech. They then decided at the same day as the assessment after a 45 minute chat.

Good luck I hope you get some answers. I would say parents know their child the best.

Good luck for today. If it takes a while then surely that's a good thing. People are taking it seriously.
I hope it's nothing, but if it's something he will still be your same little boy. He won't have changed

They have come back with a diagnosis of autism on its own what we thought were his spd and adhd characteristics are just more characteristics of autism. The feedback meeting here is done via the school.
The senco his scamp worker the woman who did his ados and the ta who helps with him sometimes all had a meeting in the school. Then we went in with the scamp and senco to be told what they had found and what happens next. I'm not to sure what happens next tbh its a bit of a blur we are now having termly meetings with the senco and have to see the scamp in september to go over any questions she is typing up and posting us the report.
So we have the diagnosis we've been trying for so long for and i don't feel relieved at all I just see all the problems he is going to have in the future and wish they had told me it was all in my head and he will grow out of it

Hugs. It's hard knowing but hearing is a different thing altogether. But now he can get the support he needs. All I have is hope. That as a family we can take my two girls far 🍷🍫 x

I felt like that for a few weeks post diagnosis too. I knew it was coming but it didn't make it any easier.
Give yourself a few weeks to digest everything and feel sad if you need to. I did lots of mopping about and crying and got it out of my system ( mostly) I felt a lot better after a few weeks

Be kind to yourself nouser, I totally expected that Dd3 would get her dx but I still felt like I had been kicked for a few days afterwards!

He is still the same person he was yesterday but now you can find better ways to help him.

Good luck 💐
