DS1 has been out of indi ss since February 2015 and has been at home ever since, barely able to leave the house and has been unable/unwilling to meet with his EOTAS tutor who, despite never meeting DS1, still insists on visiting each week. His transfer to EHCP had begun and we had the Transfer meeting in January 2015 and we had official LA notification in June 2015 but it had stalled completely. Provision in the statement wasn't being delivered and reintegration into a suitable school was not happening on the basis that DS1 would probably never go to a school again. Their one solution was to keep pushing an unsuitable short course (all that was available pre-16).
SOS!SEN started the JR protocol back in March. Initially it appeared that the LA was going to defend - blaming parents where possible, blaming DS1's lack of motivation to attend school, saying it was not possible to find SALT or OT and that even if they could DS1 probably wouldn't meet with them and that ASD related anxiety counselling would be in Section H of any draft ECHP.
However, before officially proceeding to JR the LA have done what we asked - transferred to EHCP with no loss of provision and including reintegration plans and delivered therapy provision, whilst DS1 is unable to attend school, in his own home.
DS1 has been brilliant. I am so proud of him . He met with the LA EP and autism outreach to give his views to transfer. We now have a draft. Best of all, we did not give up with the therapists but just took over looking from the LA and, lo and behold, therapists were available to start immediately and, DS1 spent over an hour yesterday with an indi SALT!!
