I am just realising that my DD doesn't really have any friends at school - she has a dx of learning difficulties and general learning delay - she was assessed for asd when she was 7 but it came back with not enough positive 'evidence' for an ASD dx.
When my DD was in foundation, her teacher told me that she thought she had Aspergers which I was devastated about and then after the assessments i put it to one side,... but now the gap between my DD and her classmates is definitely widening and i do think that my DD probably does have Aspergers...
I feel hopeless about the situation, we have chidren back for playdates , and she goes to lots of clubs, brownies, drama etc - but she has not got a proper friendship circle - she never gets Birthday party invites... :(
she is absolutely lovely and kind and caring in lots of ways and she gets on with adults but when it comes to children of her own age - she struggles, she can fall out with other children, and she doesn't she their point of view and is not flexible,...
I've often thought that some kids look at her like shes an alien
i just do not know what to do next - especially as she starts secondary school in sep 2017... Should i go back to the Paediatrician for another assessment?
Does anyone know if there are classes/clubs specifically for social skills ? My friend said maybe she should go to a school for special education needs ...? We are in the Midlands.
Any advice appreciated. TIA
