Would you say this is problems with transitions(1 Post)
We are just wondering if our little one has problems with transitions. She has high anxiety and is now in reception. At pre-school they mentioned that transitions were a struggle.
School haven't mentioned too much.
We are just wondering if behaviour at home is sometimes transition related. A long time ago, we noticed she would play up a lot when we were leaving the house or arriving home. Now it does seem to still occur when we get home from somewhere. We have had real problems recently when it's time to get ready, so washed, dressed etc. This can be for school or at weekend. Problems at bedtime, problems when she first wakes and gets up, when we ask her to dinner table and she first sits down, getting her to try the toilet. Is it just defiance (we have wondered about pda in the past) or transition issues do you think? How does this compare to your little one? Or just normal 4 (almost 5) year old awkward behaviour! I know many children probably resist somewhat but it's very intense, shouting, sometimes aggressive physically, generally awkward and playing up.
Also, when I collect after school, but she is obv tires and hasn't spoken for 6 and 1/2 hours so bound to have pent up feelings.
No ASD diagnosis, just anxiety, selective mutism, poss sensory. She is being referred for ASD assessment.
