transition to new placement

For those of you who have been through this - how long would be reasonable for a transition period for a semi residential placement? And, was it recorded in the EHCP - if so which section - would it be I? Or F - but its tricky because my ds EHCP split into sub headings with sec BEF under each - so if it affects all sub headings where would it go?

Do you mean something like a part time or dual placement arrangement during transition? I would have thought it should probably go in I, but if there is any specific provision related to the transition (e.g. 1:1 support) then that should go into F. I don't really see why it shouldn't be stand alone provision in F, but it depends what sort of dog's dinner your LA makes of B, E and F - they tend to obsess about producing something in F to match an outcome from E, whereas what the law actually requires is that provision in F meets needs described in B.

Ha ha!! yes a complete dogs dinner! and Im making a pigs ear of trying to get it to make sense. Statement says he will need a carefully planned incremental transition into a placement but doesnt go into details. They are expecting him to just up and go full time - from being at home with me for some years. Having finally agree the placement then the battle starts over transport and now they won't fund anyone to go with him. He will only need someone to go for little while til he gets used to it - so I have to get that in somewhere as well. Presumably it goes with transport in part I as well?
