Hypermobility and walking tolerance

DD (age 9) has recently been struggling to walk her usual distances. (which were not far anyway.)
She can walk through pain when motivated enough and I think with enough breaks to sit down.
she can not walk some days and then do something active another day.

Do we keep pushing the walking tolerance (aiming to refer to podiatry and OT again) and therefore limit what we do as a family, bearing in mind that ds has ASD and needs to walk a lot to help regulate his emotions, or do we keep pushing the walking and have some sort of mobility aid to pick up the slack sometimes? (her dad had to carry her back from a favourite activity, I am not able to carry her)

Looking for information while I get in touch with OT.

I would definitely get a podiatry or othopedic referral!

Dd3 is hypermobile and has had orthotics since age 8, she has resisted doing stretches and we knew her achillies was shortened due to the way she walks.

She was seen by an othopedic surgeon last week at a very well know childrens hospital and he said that she may need surgery as her achillies and tightened calf muscles are preventing her from walking properly and causing her significant pain Sad

She is 13! Learn from my mistake and get your Dd seen by a foot specialist sooner rather than later!

Good luck Flowers

ahhhh... thanks polter, you may have come up with an explanation.

I complained of hip pain for years too and have now come to the conclusion that it is hypermobility.
