OT and Physio - will my DS be doing these forever

Currently doing loads of gross & fine motor exercises with DS every day - he has weak motor skills due to autism.

He's 6 now

Will I have to keep this up forever? - will there come a point where it eases off? It's hard going.

I'm due to bring him back for Physio in a few weeks but just wondering about other people's experiences

I hope so Poulter
It takes up so much that there isn't much time left over to just relax and enjoy life
I try to make it fun for DS and stick to the activities he enjoys most - but it's a chore for him and me.

If I knew for sure it would improve his skills it wouldn't be so bad but because it's not clear to me if things are improving it can be a bit disheartening

If it is nhs they will want to discharge him as soon as possible to make time for the next child on the list. ds had a few ot sessions then we were left to it. Once they reach a functional position, ie can sit for reasonable amounts of time and write it will be up to you how much more you do. Lots of therapy can be made into games so throwing and catching with ball/beanbag/balloon, writing in sand on the beach, water play, board games, climbing and swinging at the park. Then you can switch focus according to your day rather than allow it to dictate too much.
