Can anyone advise a good book for learning makaton?

Just that really! I want to learn the signs to use with my 21 month old who has no words and limited understanding.
Just one with all the basic signs if possible!

The trick is to use the first few signs a lot to back up your speech, as part of normal daily routine. Remember you're succeeding even by getting in the habit of backing up words with signs- it takes a bit of time to train yourself to even remember to use it.

So don't waste any time worrying if your signs aren't perfect to start with. and when you've automatically waved HELLO (Mr Tumble style) at the checkout lady in Asda, despite your dd being asleep in the buggy or at home you'll know you're there

I used makaton, Just the basic signs for yes, no, please, thank you then introduced signs for cake etc, You can attend Makaton training for Parents/Carers which is an introduction to some really useful MAKATON signs, i also purchased a DVD using MAKATON and purchased www.sookieandfinn.co.uk/ a sukie and Finn DVD, Which really helped.

Forgot to say in last post, You will also get a book with the MAKATON signs when you have attend the course, With all the signs you have learnt which is really useful to double check signs etc. The Makaton website is great I purchased a nursery rhyme book which was fab as my little one loves nursery rhymes
