In our area Paeds have to be confident of a diagnosis and then they take the evidence to a panel (speach report, observation in school or nursery etc). Then formal assessment (Disco or ADOS) takes place about 6 months after they have agreed. I have one who panel have just agreed and one waiting for the report from ADOS.

Our consultant paed went into the nursery setting for DS others have had someone from the team. DD didn't have an observation in school they just went on the schools questionaires/phone calls.

All areas are different, best call and ask or ask the nursery's SENCO they might know.

We had an assessment at school all morning with pead and salt at the end of the morning they said ASD to us...... Then gave us a couple of websites to look up.

I went to gp as didn't know what or if there was anything else to do?? She has referred us back to peads at the hospital

We has assessment process started by psychologist and it was a multi dispiniary team assessment between her team, SALT and paed. This was after being fobbed off by a different paed for years. Took 6 months and lots of hours in meetings as well as DISCO and ADOS assessments being done. We had verbal confirmation about a month before official diagnosis.
