Transferring from statement to EHCP Section A

As I dont have a good relationship with school, i have chosen not to have the SENCO as our key worker.

Ds is in Y6, m/s, the LA have already agreed to indi ASD for Y7. He is due to be transferred over, from statement to EHCP any day now. When writing Section A, All about me, has anyone got any tips, just worried I wil miss something important.

How far ahead have you gone with aspirations? Employment etc.

His statement was only finalised in Sep, and now having to do it all again.

Also as the date for his Y7 placement is legally supposed to be named on his statement by Feb 15th how wil that work as his EHCP takes 14 weeks. Will the update his statement with school whilst transferring?

To be honest, section A doesn't matter too much - it won't affect the provision your son gets. I would just fill it in pretty fully but, at age 6, I wouldn't have thought there is much point in putting in aspirations beyond secondary schooling at most; though if DS has his own views about what he wants to be when he grows up it can do no harm to include them.

When my son's was transferred, we had a Person Centred Planning meeting and basic information for those sections was taken then and a first draft produced as a result. Have you been offered that meeting? If not, perhaps you should ask for one.

As for the sections I wrote (or contributed to) myself, or for ds, I just took the equivalent parts of the statement and tweaked them to fit the EHCP. I ended up writing most of it myself, by the time we got to five drafts. It took us 15 months to complete in all.

They should still name the school on the existing statement by the deadline
ECHP is no excuse

The wasup2014 examples should be used to identified what is not lawful. There is no specificity.
These were put forward from the original pathfinder exercise. Subsequently reported by IPSEA to the DFE as being not lawfully compliant. That is why they have the health warning as being further adapted after July 2014. I'm not sure if IPSEA have a view on them. I do. See above.
