Feeling a bit low with dd's stress and anxiety levels. 2 years ago dd developed globus pharyngeus - the feeling of something being stuck in her throat. Couldn't swallow, food got stuck, pain was awful. Yet it was all 'in her head' ... caused by stress and anxiety. It lasted over a year Sad

Well now it's back Sad I'm just so gutted, I don't want us or her to go through this again. I think it's related to 2 issues at school. She has to take part in a class assembly, everybody has to speak a few lines. She absolutely cannot do this. Secondly, they're doing a speaking and listening test in English. She has to stand in front of the whole English class and say a paragraph about her favourite place. She absolutely CANNOT do this either! I've rang the SENCO who says she'll see if dd can do the English speech in front of a small group instead of the whole class. Dd said tonight that not everyone now has to speak at the assembly. Hope she's right.

I just hope we can get it sorted. I just can't find the strength to deal with anything else.

Sad

I feel for you, and your Dd. I wish I had a magic wand because at this very moment I've got an 8 yr old sobbing at the the thought of going to school tomorrow. And why? Nothing other than the stress of being in school and having to cope with what other kids take in their stride.

Let's hope tomorrow is better x

Polter to the rescue as always. Smile Thanks
I've never kept her off. For 8 years we've struggled. She doesn't enjoy any bit of school, only endures each day. I've always thought if I kept her off for things that upset her then she'd never be in school! Then I started reading the SN section on here and found that loads keep their dc off! She goes to a really military style strict school and they will not tolerate children being off or missing things like this. If you need to be out for orthodontist appointments etc (things that can't be made for outside of school hours) then the children get break and lunch detentions! Shock
However, the senco here is the ONLY person who has EVER helped us. I'm on a huge learning curve to be more assertive for dd. Everyone else made out there was nothing wrong with her, I was over protective etc etc. Do you know polter, I will INSIST she doesn't take part in the class assembly. I'm waiting to hear from SENCO regarding the english thing.
Hi tunna, good to hear from you. Like I've said above we've struggled for 8 years. I hope your dc is ok. It's awful isn't it? I think we struggle more as dd doesn't have a dx yet. I'm thinking aspergers but we'll see what happens.

Thanks for your help and support.
