Hi all, so today we had a transition/IEP review which staff from Dd3's new secondary school [in Sept] attended. Right at the end after the OT had produced a sample of Dd3's handwriting test one of the staff members said she might be given a laptop if it would help her!!

Anyway she can type a bit but not very fast so I thought a typing programme might be worthwhile, especially as she isnt getting homework from school at the moment grin

It would need to be colourful, motivating and suitable for a child with an emotional age of around 8/9.

Hope someone can help, thanks in advance smile

Dance Mat Typing is really fun and free on BBC.
I have quite a few kids using it and they love it.

We used Nessy Fingers. I think it is brilliant. Not free, though.

Thanks mrsb I will have a look at that one too. smile

Might try the free one first anyway though just because we have to pay for enough to support our kids so rare for something decent to be free.

Except this board of course grin

Mavis Beacon starts with children's games and develops to typing longer texts so it's suitable for adults too. You can pick up older versions of it on ebay very cheaply.

Dd1 tried Mavis Beacon and found it quite boring. She much preferred Nessy Fingers.

I was going to say Dance Mat too, dd2 has been doing it and loves it.
