Hi, DS has a diagnosis of ASD, but language is his main issue.
Anyway, I have been to look at both speech units and ASD units..
- The ASD units I went to... ( take about 12 kids) say that my son would not really qualify as his needs are very mild and they do not really focus much on speech and language. That kids with a moderate/ severe diagnosis are a main priority.
- The speech units says that my son does qualify ( despite his ASD diagnosis) but kids who have a diagnosis of " speech and language delay/ speech impairment"..would get a priority.
(Plus most of the speech units are very far anyway).
-The only school I love ( made an appointment to visit the school) is the ICAN meath school....the only issue is that it's far.
So I'm wondering if a split school placement is possible..i.e. at an ICAN school and at a normal school....has anyone done this? My son has no issues with routine and transitions, but I'm a bit worried about settling...if I do decide to take this route.
Thanks
