changes in behaviour after going gluten free

DS2 has been gf for 18 days now (and cf for 3 years). The only big change we've noticed is an increase in mood swings --sudden outbursts of laughter and crying (sometimes together). They're not major and don't last long but are noticeably different from his previously placid (and passive) temperament. He's also more excitable in general.

I think his understanding has improved a little as well - and there's a tiny bit more spontaneous communication - but again, nothing major. Sleeping is going through a good-ish phase, but that happens all the time.

Anyone else experienced these sorts of changes? I know any change is probably a good sign, so I'm not worried, just curious. Should I expect slow and gradual changes (if any) or is the fact that there isn't anything dramatic as yet a sign that he's not going to benefit that much?

Or am I being far too impatient?

No - have cut those down too - still has grapes occasionally and broccoli in fishcakes, but not much else. Would be interested to hear the results of your investigations!

Come to think of it, he's been drinking more pear juice because of the hot weather - watered, but still... Also a few boxes of raisins recently. And quite a few blueberries... oops, maybe that then

Our boy has been GF/CF for a year now. Best result is that he had poops! and not the watered down mucusy mess he used to have. Our whole family went gluten free and we all feel better. Body not made to ingest gluten and we sure havent suffered from it, (except we used to love cream cakes).

It takes a LONG time to get gluten out of the system and for our boy, even a small infraction causes digestion problems and sleep problems.

Even if you dont see an obvious "difference", in behaviour or physcial improvement, you can bet your little guy's gut is healing inside without you knowing it. Gluten does all kinds of nasty things, to which there is plenty of info support on the web and libraries.

We sure dont need gluten and can live quite happier without it.

As my doc says, prehistoric man didnt have gluten. Prehistoric man ate about 7000mg of vitamin C a day. We get about 100mg of vit c and processed crap. Our bodies are being ruined by western diets and gluten is a big part of that.
