Hi I want to take my dd for a private assessment , she shows features of hfa and is on an NHs asd pathway. However it is talking far too long for her to get a dx and we have lost faith in them due to loosing reports etc.
Ideally I would like to take my dd to see Daphne keen but her pa isn't the best at getting back to me. Can anyone recommend anyone else whose private opinion would be credible to the NHs?
Thanks.

Dr Angel Adams based in Kingston. Highly respected, works for the NHS and private.

We saw Dr Helen Wesley, based in Kent. Her report was excellent and helped us win tribunals.

I thought Margo was a SLT that specialises in Autism?

Thanks for recommendations , I don't want to put my dd through the anxiety of an assessment plus spend a lot of money if the NHs will not accept it.
Has anyone heard of belle vue house in Ormskirk? They offer a two day assessment including DISCO and ADOS with Salt, Ot ,Ed psych and peadtrician. Ironically one of the consultants is actually my dd registrar although she has only seen registrars. They are both based at Alder Hey so am hoping the NHs will accept any dx they give. Especially as Dr de soysa leads the NHs team.
It costs £2225 is that about average?it includes and thirty page report with recommendations and over night stay if required.

Belle Vue has a good reputation. I know someone whose ds was assessed by them, she recommends them.

I think it is expensive because it is all four professionals if I wanted to see just one it would be £600 for half a day but they wouldn't diagnose.

My worry/ confusion is how can just one person give a dx ? I thought it had to be at least two professionals, was planning on also taking dd to a SALT if I had taken her to DK.
Can Margo diagnose on her own and the nhs accept it? Thanks

4 different experts diagnosed ASD in my son....

I think Belle Vue sounds very good!

Pearly......now a days only a clinical psychologist alone cannot diagnose. Similarly, an Ed psych also cannot diagnose. 1 person diagnosing maybe thrown out unless there is a standardized test involved. The best test is ados. To make sure NHs accepts your diagnosis, MULTI disciplinary assessment is best involving salt, Ed psych/clinical psych and community ped. Having said that, belle cue sounds humongously expensive. I would suggest London children,s practice centre. They are MULTI and half the cost and impeccable reputation.

Zumb thanks for your post the team at belle vue use all four professionals you mentioned and do both Disco and Ados over the two days. The consultant paediatrician is my dd nhs dr although she has only met members of his team. The thing with London is although I was planning to travel to see DK I live a 30 min drive from belle vue so would save travel/ accommodation costs. I have provisional booked with them now unfortunately not till November.

Hmmm, this thread has me a bit worried now. (im not trying to hijack BTW) I have an appointment with DK in the winter, i was told I should send in a multitude of paperwork such as SLT. EP, etc reports she will also contact the school.

My LA CAMHS was initially saying they would do a multi, then changed their mind and said only the consultant would do it at the end of August, however she is not asking me for any additional papers which is very bizarre. Although i have DK I do not want to cancel the NHS appointment as I want to remain on the list so to speak as I already know they are going to say nothing is wrong as they are practically saying that already without seeing my son

Im confused

Hi I wouldn't cancel the DK app you are very lucky to get one I believe she can give a dx on her own but I wanted a SALT as well in case the NHS wouldn't accept her dx which is prob anabel me being over cautious as DK given DK's reputation.
I worry about my dd's NHs assessment as they are only going to do the ados which isn't great for hfa girls also the waiting time is ridiculous.
