Hi all
Has anyone had good results with magnesium baths? I put 2 small cupfuls in ds's bathwater last night. He was asleep a good hour earlier than usual and has been, for him, cheery and chatty today, which I guess could be because he got a bit more sleep than usual. If asd kids were low in magnesium, would results be as instant as that? I have epsom salts to try, too....apparently 2 different forms of magnesium so worth trying both....

Clutching at straws, no doubt!

I don't know about Magnesium. However Epsom salt (also magnesium something) calms mine down. So she sleeps better and is more attentive/ energetic for her ABA. So it's not a cute, but helps overall. I tried it on myself first.

Epsom salts work well for ds too- if only we could get him in the bath more often than once a fortnight!

Update: DS has now had 4 special baths - 2 magnesium only, 2 epsom salts.

No major changes to his sleep patterns.

This morning for the first time in at least a year he got himself up and dressed (on a school day) when requested (normally I have to dress his top half to rouse him).

When I picked him up from school he volunteered information about what they had been doing in school this afternoon (an art project). Volunteering info about school happens 3 or 4 times a year only.

Today we did a drive thru McD's for a treat - when we got home, he carried 3 happy meals out of the car, without being asked. He wasn't even having a happy meal, they were for the younger kids. Usually he'd complain about carrying even his own stuff...My 3 year old fell off her chair at tea time and he asked her where it hurt and rubbed her better, normally he'd ignore it....

Quite excited. Of course it could be because now SATS are over (he's in year 6) they are doing lots of fun stuff at school. But it's positive enough that I will be buying another pack of salts when this lot is finished :)
