SN children

Does anyone have a child who travels in a wheelchair but can take off seatbelt/wears a harness to prevent this?

DS travels in the car and schoolbus in his wheelchair but is slipping his arm under (and then over) the seatbelt. He already wears a Best Vest.

I've been told so far that none of the harnesses available can be used for children in wheelchairs - only for children seating on normal seats.

I'm thinking mine can't be the only child in a wheelchair doing this! And has anyone found any solution?

TIA

I have tried googling this but am now getting this thread as the top result, so am guessing this is somehow not a common problem! Grin

The reality is that a chair COULD be retrofitted with a Best Vest in theory, but you would have to find a dispenser willing to do it. Bee wears a chest support harness with her chair that clips out of her reach (not because she could/would open it, just because that is how it is made). I am not sure if that might be an option for you, or if your Houdini would escape that as well...

Could he put a tight-ish long sleeve zip-up over the whole lot? A fleece or something? Totally new idea, not spent hours looking at the options, oh no of course i don't want my own dc straitjacketed in the car

Blush well, all right, I do, it would save pulling in every 10min

I'm looking for some sort of a chest plate to stop DS3 from escaping from his pushchair straps.

Crelling don't seem to have anything suitable, the Houdini stop doesn't stop MY mini Houdini, the 5-point plus doesn't look like it would even slow him down...

I used to have a 'thing' for the Mac Major that clipped with poppers over the whole chest area, with the poppers closest to the chest, but can't seem to find it on Google now.

DS3 is in a BJCM with the straps as tight as they go.

I need something that covers the whole of the front of the straps, even a 1.5in gap he will get his arms through, he's really skinny!
