To myself & all the others who have total chaos & meltdowns galore due to half-term & change of routine. We've even started to get it the week before when its getting metioned a lot at school.

DS2 is in Y6 so the routine will be out of the window even after half term. Rehearsals for the school play, preparing the yearbook, timetable all over the place. The poor boy won't know whether he's coming or going.

My God we've been pushed to the limit today. Heaven help us in the 6 week holidays.

I've done a sort of timetable for the week, which helps with the constant "What are we doing this morning? What are we doing this afternoon? What are we doing tomorrow?" There may be a problem if we veer from it, though.

Yeah we've done something similar. He's got a calendar & we've wrote on each day what's planned & we discuss it everyday but so far it doesn't seem to be helping much. Oh well tomorrow's a new day, let's hope it's a bit more positive.

We have 1 week half-term and a car which is out of action until Wednesday, when it goes in for a new clutch

We are trying to persuade DS2 to detach himself from the computer and come for a walk to the park.

"But why? Why would I want to? How long will it take? How many minutes exactly? But it wasn't on the timetable!"

Oh lougle, I feel your pain. I had the no car, new clutch scenario earlier this month. Hang in there!

We survived trip to the park and no meltdowns throughout. He spent the whole time on the swing while we were there but didn't complain on the way there or the way back. Luckily no one else seemed to want a go on the swing.

The walk there was the same route as to the new secondary school (starting in September) and he was able to see the point of practising that.

I was so impressed that I bought him a Doctor Who magazine on the way home. shameless conditioning
