Have now got my indi SALT report, hoping LA will back down

It is a depressing read, am sat here crying. All scores are in the very low severe delay range.

Don't know if anyone remembers but my LA wanted to reduce DS's SALT from twice termly monitoring to twice yearly. My appeal is still in with SENTW while waiting for this report. The LA did offer to change it back to twice termly because I had lodged my appeal but I had already instructed the indi SALT.

Indi SALT recommending at least two blocks of direct therapy for a year to see if that has a positive effect on his delay.

I am hoping to have her do extra sessions with DS which I can pay for from his DLA.

Getting DH to read through tonight then send to LA in morning, it will be a case of change to direct therapy or see them at Tribunal.

Am just so upset, yes he is my wonderful DS but I really wish he didn't have to struggle so much. In the report it is made clear by his teacher he is working well at school, but at year1 level, DS.is year 4.

Virtual hugs for you. I remember your story about LA wanting to reduce SALT input; but I don't know the ins and outs of your story. I presume your child is in mainstream? Sounds to me he needs to be in a specialist school - in specific for children with speech SEN ... Bless him x

Thanks for hugs nostoppngme, struggling at the moment.

DS is in an ASD unit attached to a small mainstream. It is a lovely place, high level of support there. He will be going up to the older class in September, he really isn't ready. Have emailed report to LA and waiting for a reply.
