Sensory processing issues and anxiety

Having my dd assessed by an OT for sensory processing issues, she also has huge anxiety issues too, changes of plan and even leaving the house when she isn't expecting it cause massive problems. Is this quite normal. do they go hand in hand.
I have just read the post about girls and autism and it might as well have been written about my dd, I feel in a right state that she's 11 and I've let her down by not seeing things earlier.

Don't feel bad, I think the article was partly trying to explain how difficult autism can be to spot in some girls.

My Dd3 has developed lots of strategies for coping at school and other places such as Cubs and many people dont realise that she has Asd. I spotted her issues early but only because i have lots of family members who are on the spectrum including my eldest Dd.

It still took 3.5 years to get a diagnosis for her because many so called trained professionals could spot autism in her. She was eventually diagnosed by a psychiatrist who has a special interest in autism but it was a speech and language therapist who spotted her communication issues and encouraged me to ask for more assessments to be made.

Does your Dd have difficulty with higher language skills such as sarcasm, humour, literal interpretations? If so a speech and language assessment might help to guide you towards a diagnosis if she needs one.

Thankyou both so much,
I'm trying to read as much as I can, but she has had so many issues come to the fore in the past 12 months we haven't known where to start.
I shall read everything you have recommended and see what happens at the OT assessment and report back.
