Why is it that just when you think you are ticking along nicely everything goes horribly wrong? Over the past year I've put a lot of effort into getting ds to walk without lying down every two minutes or running off in the wrong direction. He was doing well so that we'd even started 'popping' to a local shop without the buggy (still needed loads of time and patience but could be done)and his teacher had called him 'Mr mobile' as he was moving around the school so much better. Well, for some reason he's regressed. His teacher reports that he's becoming difficult to move and on Sunday what should have been a 10 minute walk turned into over an hour. I ended up carrying him most of the way out of desperation and he ain't no lightweight! On the plus side he did actually speak, shame it was the word "no"!
Yesterday Dh started his new job. Good news yes, but he's doing different hours which means that he is no longer at home when ds arrives from school by taxi. If I had the car I could maybe at a pinch get home in time after picking dd up, but that broke down last week. So now I am carting major buggy to dd's school on bus, waiting around for 1/2 an hour for ds to be dropped off there, walking 10 mins to correct bus-stop and getting bus home with pair of them.
Yesterday I received the news that my car is past saving. Today I received the letter saying that my application for higher than low-rate mobility has been refused. Aaargh, such great timing!
There! moan over. Will feel better tomorrow I expect. Maybe. All made worse today by guilt at sending both kids to school despite ds's runny nose and hacking cough and dd's complaints (ALL the way there on the bus) of a headache and sore throat. Bad Mummy .
Oh and it's Ds's birthday Thurs. All I've bought him so far is a card and I still haven't got a clue what to get him . I won't be setting foot in Toysrus, that's for sure. It might finish me off!
