today's dilemma any other options?

As I have my 12yo DS 24/7 with him not in school, the only break I get is from 11ish today when my mam will have him and DH picks him up on the way in from work.

Anyway DS can't/won't wear clothes so I can't defrost the car with him in it, he is also coughing and barking, suffers recurrent silent pneumonia and has a heart condition. I can't defrost the car leaving him indoors alone as he has no sense of danger and needs constant supervision.

DH said he would come home in his half an hour dinner to take him, which means he misses his dinner. DH is diabetic.

DH has since took the car to work and the wheelchair is in the car, so can't even attempt a bus journey which may not have happened given DS's refusal of many things.

Any more suggestions welcome, TIA x

how far is your mum? Can she come to you?

she's about 10 mins away. She would only come to me if I went to get her, which then ends up similar to above. Plus we don't get on.

you know handywoman, theres not, brings our whole life to the forefront in how isolated we are. Plus DH now has my car at work and his is unsuitable for DS.

can you wrap a couple of quilts around him? have a sandwich ready for dh. sounds really stressful.

Could you run out turn the car engine on and turn the heaters on full blast and the go back inside for ten minutes whilst it defrosts? (This is what I do although only out of laziness not necessity!)

I was going to suggest the same as cats.

I have a spare car key. I run out, start the car, lock it with the spare key and leave it running with the heaters on.

I do lurk by the window though even though it is locked.

Do you have a spare key?

Otherwise the duvet sounds like a plan.

As DH had already took my car to work and his is unsuitable for DS the plan is: to have DS ready to grab with a sandwich, he will drop off and eat.

I do have a spare key but it's on DH's keyring for when he uses the car. I tell him off for doing that with the heaters lol......your at risk of your car being nicked !! so be warned

Thats why I lock mine with the spare key.

yeah I just waited for DH to take him down, had nothing in to make a sandwich so probably grabbed a cuppa soup at break.

yes nenny, social services are involved, care package needs tweaked and individualized as whats available doesn't suit. In fact he's meant to be in respite now but he's refused to leave the house.

He also gets home tuition but it takes the 2 of us so no respite there either.

Could you keep something like this in the car permanently? With holes cut in for his seatbelt like a buggy cosytoes. Perhaps with velcro closures instead of zip (quicker) and initially just as a seat cover, then gradually working towards closing it.
