Why is it always the ones who should know better who say shit like this?

My lives a perfect life sister. She posted a pic of all the cousins on Facebook, and one of her friends made a comment about my DS, but used 'she' instead of 'he' (since dS is so beautiful! Grin). I corrected her, but kindly, and a few more comments followed. All very friendly.

The final comment is from my sister. 'He'll love all this female attention when he's older, LOL'.

DS has ASD and hates any form of attention except from me. He has only hugged my sister once in all his 9 years, even though she tries to hug him every time she sees him. It's not as if she doesn't know the reality.

I'm now feeling furious that she has to deny the truth and pretend to all her Fakebook friends that he's 'normal' with this sort of comment.

Would it be unreasonable of me to just put 'No, he won't. He has autism, had you forgotten?'

This is the latest in a long line of idiotic things she's said and done. It's nothing new Sad.

I think your over thinking it, in sure she doesn't mean to upset you and while yes he has autism he is still going to grow into a young lad and may at some point like young ladies.
It's hard but you need to grow a tougher skin x

I don't think she meant to upset you, it's just small talk. If you feel you need to respond just put "I doubt it!"

Agree with Lisad123. He may well enjoy the attention sooner than you think.
I think it's rather nice actually.... My sister says this about my boy (15 asd dyspraxia ) all the time ( including on Facebook) . She also says it about my nt girl. To her he IS gorgeous and lovely and kind .. Even though she has very little understanding of his difficulties .

Thanks for the reality check Grin!

Sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees in all this.

I know I shouldn't get upset about this comment, it's just easier to get annoyed about this than everything else I suppose!

Sounds to me as though she's saying 'yes he has autism and he's beautiful and I'm proud of him'

True too that he may like girls in the future Grin

The only issue you need to take up with your sister is the use of the LOL! Wink
