DD who is 6 and a half has just been diagnosed with ADHd and I have an appointment on the 30th november to discuss this further. This of course is excellent but my concern is we went to stay with a friend of mine at the weekend. His wife has children from a previous marriage as well as their two children. Anyway 2 of her older children have asperegers/autism.

After spending the weekend with dd, she doesnt normally see her for that long, said she could see lots of the traits for these in dd, she was also asking questions too. She said she thinks I need to discuss this with the paedition but i dont know how to approach it as I dont want the professionals thinking I want to label dd with everything under the sun!!THIS IS OF COURSE NOT WHAT I WANT TO DO but at the same time if she needs extra support I want to be abel to get it for her.

Any advice how I go about it ir should I leave it?

ADHD as you know is on the Autistic Spectrum so there will be a few traits that are not just ADHD. Is common, so don't get upset by it.

Once things are settled as much as they can be with the ADHD side of things, then the other issues will be looked at.

Mention your concerns to your specialist and they will write them down and have a closer look when the time comes, when the ADHD is under some sort of control.

It's very fustrating and takes forever to get anything to get done but it does happen.

ALWAYS ask for advice and help.

Hi foxy, many children have adhd and asd, there are alot of crossovers between the 2.

I would agree that you should speak to your Dd's paediatrician. Some proffs are still finding it difficult to spot Asd in girls as they present very differently to boys.

Good luck.smile
