DD had a science test today.

Yesterday was spent screaming, procrastinating and ripping up books.
Today she refused to get out if bed.

She is year 10. We need to sort this out now before her real GCSEs stsrt. Right now I can't see her being able to do any of them at all.

So what do I ask school for? All I can think of is making sure she knowz what to revise (yesterdays problem).

Discuss with learning support.

They need to work with her on producing a realistic revision schedule, and having coping strategies for anxiety.

I assume any technical aspects of exam taking (ie lap top, additional time, or scribe) have been sorted as required?

So far she gets a prompt to keep her focussed.
Will call tomorrow.

I'd ask for a list home of what to revise for every subject so she knows exactly what to do and where she is

If she needs a prompt to keep her focused (in class as well?) it's likely she needs the same support during revision. Does the learning support department run a homework or revision club in the run up to exams? Worth asking. Some schools also allow students to use 'free' or certain other periods to attend the learning support base for (loosely) supervised revision periods.

It's definitely worth asking what specific exam and revision support is offered to y10 and 11s. Are they involved in her current coursework assignments? Or is it being managed completely through subject teachers?

The kids I was supporting were just 'mine' in subject specific classes, but the LS department was keeping tabs overall on exam prep and current coursework status...

They do lots of revision sessions in the run up. Normally after school.
I think she's going to need more. I'll vontact senco tomorrow
