DLA nightmare again!

My DS2 gets mid rate DLA care and has been sent forms to apply for mobility as he is nearly 5yo. DD2 gets high rate care and has been sent forms for mobility as she just turned 3yo. I wasn't expecting this (not very clued up) and find these forms a nightmare. I was up at 4am filling them in cause I just needed them to be finished. I find them so emotionally draining, who wants to have to talk about every little detail of what's 'wrong' with their child, it's so hard. Now that I have sent them off it's not much better, I'm laying awake half the night hoping I've done them properly. Have I put everything in? Will we loose what we have? What will will do if that happens? They need alot of care and the mobility side is much more of an issue this year as I can't squeeze DS2 into a baby buggy any more and DD2 is getting to that point fast and needs wheels much more often.
I know many of you have been through this, I just needed to vent my worries to people who will understand this isn't about being greedy and wanting money, it's about NEEDING it and not having a clue how we will manage!

well done for getting through it, it's a horrible set of forms, Wine and chocolate sound like a good idea right now, well maybe not the Wine just yet Smile

dd3 has had hr mobility since she was 3, just having the blue badge alone has made life so much easier!

Thank you so much, just didn't want to feel so alone for a moment :) People IRL just don't 'get' it. I would so appreciate a blue badge I find going out near impossible sometimes. How do you get a child into a car in an ordinary parking space when they have to be kept laying flat? I really need room round the car, it's really not all about money is it?

Its bad enough doing one set of forms, so it must be a real nightmare for you!

Hat's off to you for completing 2 forms, it took me a month just to do one.

Sorry for the hijack but DS (ASD) is also 5 in a few months... do we automatically get sent forms for mobility?

Also he currently receives HRC until 2015, do you have to complete the entire form again whilst applying for mobility?

Of course we all know with our rational heads on that our children receive the care rate they do because they meet the criteria, doesn't stop us from worrying about this though does it!

baboos The forms just got sent to me I didn't ask for them. I do know that if you get HRC you can apply for mobility from 3yo. It's a slightly diff form and there is a part that says if care needs are the same go straight to mobility part.

Thank you so much, it's good to know you're not on your own :)
