ds2 (13) diagnosed last wednesday.

my mother has decided without asking us that we are all eating out for xmas dinner this year Hmm and has emailed us the menu asking us for our choices at the place she has booked.

myself , dp and ds1 have chosen and i have just asked ds2 what he will have and he found it very difficult to choose , he said it was just WEIRD picking your food now to eat in December and he didnt want to go anyway . managed it in the end, but , is this to do with the AS ?

If you're going to go through with this you have to explain that the dinner isn't actually about the food it is supposed to be to see the family and you know it isn't his thing so if he does it well you'll let him do .......... during/inbetween courses/leave early/arrive late whatever and he can chose something special that will be christmassy FOR HIM for the day after.

Im actually like that myself and its only a clear cut choice for me if everything else on offer i something i dont like. Its one of the reasons i hate meals plans, i cant decide what i can stomach eating until just before i go to make even then sometimes upon making i change my mind completely.

Im not AS btw but i do have rather odd tendancies

Can you decide something completely different from him then on the day mix and match between you with what he fancies.

Not a lot for fun for you really and your DM will have to watch you moving food around your plates but it might get you through it.

Is your DM paying?

Lol ...Sounds a normal reaction to me too! Everyone thinks this surely? We maybe just don't voice it. Grin
Maybe the question just needs to be which of these menus sound the nicest .

Another one who agrees with him :)

but then I am like that and hate being told what I am doing let alone a couple months in advance!

Fortunately my family believe that Xmas day should be in your own homes and Boxing Day is for visiting.

I am waiting to put a spanner in the works with my mil by just saying a plain NO this year to anything. For one she hasnt visited since last Xmas or discussed ds DX and for another it's DH an I only day off together every year and I am feeling selfish in not wanting to share it Grin
