SN children

Do any of your kids with slow processing speed get easily or unusually tired?

For example, do they get drained or tired out (more than you might ordinarily expect) by normal non academic stuff like sports sessions, workshops, playdates, trips to park, stints on games consoles etc? Or do any of you find that very obvious "tiredness" easily accumulates if you do too many of these types of things (when they wouldnt really affect other children)?

Having a particularly tough time right now and its heartbreaking Sad

Could you tell me any more crystal? Do your dc have any other difficulties and do you know her processing speed percentile? My ds gets mentally overloaded, very quick to anger, fuzzy brained, loses coordination and just very slow in every way Sad

Slow processing can be caused by gluten / dairy intolerance, which means that eating dairy and gluten acts like morphine.

DS2 had very slow processing and is a different kid since cutting out gluten and dairy. When he was on gluten and dairy he got very tired.

thanks shell, will have a look
what type of thing used to make him tired and what kind of tiredness did he get?

without the gluten/dairy does he still have slow processing but minus the tiredness?

anyone lurking or anyone on the thread whose child is like this, would you mind sharing what kind of activity affects your dc and how they respond?

DS has processing below 1st percentile, I'd love to know that we're not alone with his response to normal social and leisure activities - it stretches much further than just academic work (unlike what some professionals seem to imagine Hmm

thanks

DS (age 8) always had purple circles under his eyes, used to spend lots of time sitting on the couch sucking his thumb and watching TV.

Was exhausted by 7:30 and went to bed.

Now he's awake and bright at 8:30, which is his new bed time.

And his slow processing is much, much, much better.

As well as cutting out gluten and dairy we've been giving him mega doses of B12.

My nutritionist sent the test off to Biolab, but I don't remember what the test was.....

I would think most nutritionists could organize this for you.
