Sometimes it feels good to "toot" your own horn

As you know, things are VERY stressful here, but like beacons, there have been a couple of things that are shining through.

  1. DS is doing well... he has found friends at his new school, is using the public transportation system on his own to get there, and seems generally in a good place personally. We'll get the school part sorted in good time.

  2. Bee has been asked to read a "pledge" for her school's Remembrance Day ceremony. It is not even her class that is presenting it, but still they asked her. She has been practicing every day (reading it to me) and I think she will do well.

  3. Bee's meeting on Friday went well. The school is seeing the same things we are (and while them agreeing that she is clearly deteriorating was a jagged knife through the heart, we know that she is adequately and appropriately supported not only now, but will be as things progress as well) and we didn't have to struggle for a single provision in her statement. She will be at this school full time this year, and depending on how she is doing, might be 1/2 time in a special program in a MS school next year and the following... and possibly promote out of the SS by Y5. While it is scary to look at the future for a child in Hospice care... knowing she is not being tossed aside is VERY encouraging. We have been assured that if she faces a catastrophic deterioration, and is still capable of attending school, she will be back in the SS in a heartbeat.

  4. (and the feather in my cap right now) As I mentioned, DH's former employer was messing with his wages. He asked me to write a letter on his behalf and sent it to them last Wednesday... Well, today he followed up, and he is actually going to be receiving more than we expected... because I uncovered not only a massive error in the payment they gave him, but a major "oversight" in the company's accounting practices that could lead to fines into the hundreds of thousands if they do not rectify it before it is reported to the Labour Board. It doesn't make him employed again, and doesn't fix the medical benefit issues... but damn it feels good not only to be right but to have turned on the light and made the cockroaches scramble.

    Wine to me

That it will, but until Bee's nurse arrives, I am on duty.

That's OK... I am riding a bit of a high just off this "victory" alone right now. The only thing I wish is that it wasn't just DH, me, and the MNetters that know. I'd love to shout it from the rooftops, but all that would do is ruin his credibility.
