Ok, So I have a 6 year old son who still thows wobblys.... and I mean big 2 year old style laying on the floor kicking and screaming tantrums.
Normal???
Today we went to see my Nannan and he wanted to stay when we left. We left him there as my Aunt said she would bring him home.
He came home a few hours later in tears...... when he has a tantrum he won't talk and the tears can last for a good hour.
I eventually got out of him that he didn't like what was given to eat for dinner. I only got there by asking questions and him saying yes or no. but no big deal and I know my nannan wouldn't have made a deal about it.
He cried for a good hour tonight and just would not talk.
He has done this many times, i guess now about once a month. So embarrassing and always over silly things.
I just feel like he is getting a bit old for this. He is a good boy generally. Bit shy and quiet but we don't make a big deal about that.
Do you think this is normal? am I overreacting?
Since been little I have always wondered if he is just slightly on the autistic spectrum. Hand flapping when younger, walking on tip toes alot even now. Social skills not brill.
but no problems at school at all, he is very gifted with Maths.
Another example was taking him to my charges (I work as a nanny) birthday party. He got a bit shy and hid behind a chair crying for an hour. Aaaah that was a bad day.
Phew I feel better for writing it all down!!!
Any ideas?
I've made it clear that I'm not happy with him tonight and that it wasn't a big deal if he didn't like the food given amd he only had to say.. Then a big cuddle and he fell to sleep cuddling me.....
