Feeling a worried (housing/landlord worries)

We rent our house privately, we've lived here about 18 months, pay the rent on time, keep ourselves to ourselves and never have a problem.

Today was our annual gas inspection, I'd completely forgotten because we've been holed up with some kind of virus bug thing most of this week.

Consequently I was still in my pj's - house was uber messy, toys everywhere, a pile of ironing threatening to take over the 2 seater sofa, floor not vacuumed (it's a daily job, because we have pet rabbits and cats and woodshavings get everywhere from the rabbit's little house) and the place was, by most people's standards; a fair old mess. (not dirty I must point out - no food waste, rubbish, dirty plates etc. just messy messy)

We also have boxes in the hall stacked up that we haven't unpacked since we moved in Blush

Anyway, I am in a blind panic now and I feel really sick though now, we can't be evicted for mess can we? DP says I'm being daft, and we'd only get evicted for damage, holes in the wall, and serious things... but I'm still worried. Sad I'm so worried that the gas guy will tell our landlords how messy it was. We let through an agency, (who know about the pets by the way) but the landlords arrange the gas checks themselves with their own company.

Had I remembered, the house would have been tidy, carpets clean and sweet-smelling - plus I'd have lit some candles like I usually do if I'm expecting anyone over. (gets rid of the "little boy" smell, lol)

I really really think you have nothing to worry about , landlords are not concerned how tidy the house is, dirty ,is another matter.....
The gas man is highly unlikely to say, the place was a bit messy ( most men I know wouldn't notice anyway! :)
Even if he did, the landlord would call today he was coming round, you'd then do what most people do, and have a wee tidy up. Don't worry . :)

Your house sounds pretty normal. Am looking at toys everywhere and only reason we're all out of pj by 8.30 is school run. Rabbits are always messy, but providing they don't pee on the carpet excessively, and the landlord is fine with pets then I wouldn't worry.

I think your internal standards are a bit high, and your ideas of 'average' are what most people with kids, jobs etc would call 'good'.
