New obsession cleaning!

DS has ASD and is 5 his new obsession is cleaning he brushes and cleans with a sponge everywhere and since his dad let him use the hover I've had to hide it as he won't stop without a huge meltdown.

Is this autism and OCD? or just a new obsession?

What do you think?

Hi chucky my dd who's 3.1 us obsessed with cleaning. But not the house unfortunatley! She's obsessed with cleaning between her toes!!! And now its progressed to fingers as well! She gets in the house rips shoes off and socks and methodically cleans between every single toe! Repeatedly! It calms her so I think its more ocd'ish. She has no dx as yet though so I'm making lists of all these things.
I'll borrow your house cleaner and you can have my toe cleaner for a day ;)

Bless him! Our OT said often cleaning rituals are linked to OCD more than just an obsession. Dd likes cleaning her teeth and washing her hands as well! Shame she's not so keen on the idea of face and hair washing!

DS likes to mark make in dust(he won't touch a pencil) so I don't see my house as dirty I see it as an educational setting and I'd feel so guilty in stopping any progress :)
Wonder how I long I can get away without touching a duster :)
